Disaster Strikes Western North Carolina: How you can help

The best way to help those impacted by flooding in Western North Carolina is with monetary donations to trusted organizations providing relief to the region. Some places to start:

North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund
United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County
Hope Mill Inc

Operation Airdrop

Other organizations include the Red Cross, Samaritans Purse, Salvation Army, Baptists on a Mission, North Carolina Community Fund, Heart with Hands, BeLoved Asheville, Democracy Green, and more.
If you would rather donate items, many churches, universities, and businesses across the nation are collecting donations for WNC disaster relief. Because of the instability of the roads, FEMA is asking that donations only be distributed by authorized groups, and for all others to “consider all roads closed.”

However, please be vigilant to vet any organizations that you choose to donate to and use your best judgment. As with any disaster, many groups choose to prey on your kindness as part of a scam. In this new age, be wary of doctored or AI-generated images meant to draw unwarranted sympathy for donations and focus your efforts on reputable groups with boots on the ground in disaster areas.
