Exciting news about SACP!

We have some exciting news about the Southern & Appalachian Cooperative Press. We are thrilled to announce that we are undergoing a comprehensive rebranding initiative, accompanied by significant organizational changes that will enhance our mission and expand our reach.

As an integral part of our publishing community, we wanted to share this information with you and provide insight into the new direction we are taking. Our goal with this transformation is to better serve Appalachia.

First and foremost, let me assure you that our dedication to publishing high-quality digital storytelling that reflects the diversity and unique perspectives of this region remains unwavering. However, we recognize the need to evolve and adapt to the changing publishing landscape.

An overview of some changes:

New Name: We will begin operating as the Appalachian Preservation Project. The Southern and Appalachian Press will be a program of the Appalachian Preservation Project.

Co-Op: It is unsustainable presently to operate as a cooperative, though we hope to return to such a format in the future. For more information on this, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Ownership: The Project is presently a registered business in North Carolina owned by co-founder Greta Rhuberg. Trademarks are in-progress for the “Appalachian Preservation Project” and the “Southern & Appalachian Cooperative Press” and “Southern & Appalachian Press.”

Clarified Purpose and Mission: The purpose of the Appalachian Preservation Project is to raise awareness, preserve the rich cultural heritage, and promote sustainable development in the Appalachian and Southern regions. Our mission is to document and celebrate the unique history, traditions, and natural beauty of the Appalachian and Southern communities, while also addressing the challenges they face in a rapidly changing world.

Our plan: Through engaging content, educational resources, and interactive initiatives, we aim to foster a sense of pride and stewardship among residents and visitors alike.

By highlighting the region's distinct cultural assets, advocating for environmental conservation, and supporting local initiatives, our website serves as a platform for empowering individuals and organizations to actively participate in the preservation and revitalization of the Appalachian and Southern regions.

Together, we strive to honor the past, shape a vibrant present, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Honoring Our Roots, Shaping Our Future: We are committed to marriage equality, reproductive rights, affirming and affordable healthcare, sustainable development, labor reform, antiracism, environmental conservation, and more in our region and the surrounding regions. We will work to actively shape a better future for Appalachia and the South in honor of our progressive roots.

We will be sharing further updates and information with you in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on your inbox and our social medias for these updates.

We are immensely grateful for your continued support and belief in the importance of preserving and celebrating the heritage of the Southern and Appalachian regions. Your enthusiasm and dedication inspire us every day.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We value your input and are always eager to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey with us. Together, we can shape a brighter future for the Southern and Appalachian regions.

Warm regards,
