The Appalachian Preservation Project spoke to Chris Colin with the Mountain Music Festival. The following is an exchange of questions and answers regarding the upcoming festival.
Q: How can people get involved?
A: People can signup to volunteer on our webpage under "Get Involved" We also bring folks in as flow performers, fire performers, visual artists, street teamers and vendors.
Q: How is the artist lineup selected?
A: The artist lineup is selected by myself and Charlie Hatcher, head of production. We look at who we think our fans want to see on the stage. We draw a lot of input for exit surveys and social media comments about the types of bands Mountain Music Festival fans are into.
Q: How many passes are available to purchase currently?
A: We have about 1,000 passes left. The 2-Day General Admission Pass is the ticket to all the action.
Q: What is the economic/tourism impact of the annual event?
A: The event brings 2,000-3,000 people into the area for this event. Those people most certainly purchase gas, food, beverages and other supplies for area retailers. This weekend used to be one of our slowest at ACE Adventure Resort and it is now our busiest.
Q: How many vendors will the event host this year?
A: 30+ Vendors
Q: Other than live music/vendors, what activities will the festival offer?
A: All the adventure activities that ACE Adventure Resort offers all year long including whitewater rafting, zip lines, rock climbing, mountain biking and more. There is also a huge art element at MMFest. We have a huge art gallery called The Pigment Sanctuary. There are free workshops happening in the art gallery both Friday and Saturday. Plus ACE has an awesome waterpark that folks love to hit up while at the festival.
Q: What should attendees know about parking/camping?
A: All camping is car camping so your car will be right next to your site. To encourage carpooling we do require everyone to purchase a car parking pass for any vehicles entering the campground. The camping is super nice for festival camping including free showers and running water.
Q: What safety/security precautions will be in place to keep attendees safe? Will there be a medical tent?
A: We have a professional security/event staff to ensure everyone is happy, healthy and safe. Yes there will be medical personal on staff as well as a medical tent by the main entrance to the main stage area.
Q: Bag policy?
A: Bags are allowed but a search may be required to ensure no weapons are in the bag.
