Wiseman’s View is a common sightseeing spot in Linville Gorge, North Carolina. From where I sit, Wiseman’s View sees my favorite mountain range mirrored. Table Rock, pictured in the painting, appears backwards, not quite right, both familiar and foreign in a way that I find commonly appears in Appalachian life. At night, the Brown Mountain Lights are rumored to be seen bobbing about the peaks like lightning bugs.
